What’s Next for Bent Axle?

Bent Axle has been mostly parked since 2022.

The website, article archive, shop, mailing list, and social accounts are still here. So is the original purpose: giving wheelchair rugby independent coverage that treats it as a real sport and reflects the knowledge, personalities, competition, and culture within its community.

But Bent Axle does not have to return in exactly the same form it had before.

Its next chapter could be a contributor-led publication, a smaller platform for occasional features and analysis, a partnership with another organization, a historical and educational archive, or something the wheelchair rugby community has not yet proposed.

Before making that decision, we want to understand whether there is meaningful interest in Bent Axle and what people would be prepared to do to support its future.

We would like to hear from people interested in:

• Reading and following new Bent Axle coverage

• Contributing articles, interviews, analysis, photography, video, or other content

• Joining an editorial or operating team

• Helping with the website, social media, partnerships, or business operations

• Sponsoring or advertising with an independent wheelchair rugby publication

• Discussing a partnership, licensing arrangement, acquisition, or long-term stewardship

• Helping preserve and expand Bent Axle’s historical and educational archive

There is no predetermined outcome, and this is not a relaunch announcement. It is an opportunity to determine whether Bent Axle still has a valuable role to play and what structure could make that role credible and sustainable.
